Mattress textiles upcycled from ocean plastics
BekaertDeslee, Waregem, Belgium
Seaqual mattress textiles are durable and sustainable textiles for mattress covers that are made from plastic removed from the ocean. The organisation is paying fishermen to bring the rubbish they find in their nets ashore instead of throwing it back into the ocean. The plastic is then broken down and melted to produce pellets to make fibres. This 100 % recycled material is subsequently used to produce the Seaqual yarn for weaving and knitting soft mattress textiles.
